Looking normal again...

Well, I officially have all of my Christmas decor taken down and put away!!!  Woo Hoo!!  It's so much fun having all of the festive decor up, but I have to say, it's nice having all of my things back where they belong and not shoved in a closet somewhere.  Now as I am typing this, I am also preparing to get my Valetine's Day decorations out, so things will just be getting moved around again.  At least I don't have as much Valentine's decor, so it won't change things up too much.

I did decide to change a few things up instead of putting everything back up exactly the way it was before.  I get bored easy with my home decor and like to change things up here and there to keep things interesting.

The top of my armoire.  I do realize the front needs a little facelift.  It's an antique, and I just haven't gotten to it yet.  I love surrounding myself with family photos, so I like to cram as many up here as possible!!  haha!!  Tru had pictures taken before Christmas, as did Tru and my niece and nephew, so I had several new photos to put up.  I also got some new frames and got crafty with a couple of them as well. I have just always loved that this has kind of been the focal point to my living room...I get to show off my precious babies that way!!  haha!!  The lamp I got at Hobby Lobby for $18 during the summer, it was marked down from $99!!!!  I love all the glitz it has on it!  The black cross candle holders in the back, I got at Hobby Lobby as well a while back.  They were marked down 80% to $3 a piece!!  They didn't have dings on them or anything!!

These are my corner shelves above my T.V.  This is where I made most of my changes. When my brother passed in November, I made a little memorial for him in my room.  Now that Christmas is over, I moved the memorial to my living room for everyone to see.

This is the close up of the memorial.  In the center is a picture of my brother and the twenty third psalm.  This is actually the program from his funeral. I had an extra frame at home and just matted the program with scrapbooking paper.  The sign with a cross on it I found the week after he passed at Hobby Lobby on sale for $2 and some change.  The black candle holder is another one that goes with the other two that were on my armoire.  This one was on sale for a little over $2 at the same time I got the others.  The cross candle also came from Hobby Lobby.  I got this a while back.  It was 50% off at the time.  I probably paid about $5 for it.  The roses came from my brother's casket arrangement.  I took one on the day of his funeral, and then one the day after when we went back the next day to visit him.  You can't see it, but also on the shelf is one of the prayer rocks they had at his visitation.  I actually have three of them.  I keep one in my purse, one in Truett's room, and then one on here.  They were placed in a bowl beside a picture of him with this written on it:

As a gift from you to the family,
please take one of these little round glass
stones as a token of rememberance

Carry it with you, and whenever you
feel sad or lonely, reach in your pocket and
give it a squeeze, and know that he is
squeezing you right back
As a circle has no end, your love for one
another will never end, and this stone
will be a symbol of that eternal love

This is the other shelf above my T.V.  It's still missing a little something on the right side next to the fleur de lis, I'm not sure what to put there yet.  The photo is one I took outside of my uncle's bathroom during my visit to Paris, France.  Could you imagine waking up to that view every morning?  Nice!!  The fleur de lis with green, yellow, and red glass beads on it I picked up a couple of weeks ago at Hobby Lobby for like $6.  I consider it a "splurge" item!  haha!!  I loved the colors and just had to have it!

This is clearly next to my front door.  The side table I actually found like 10 years ago at Wal Mart for $15 or something.  I wish I would have bought more.  It has been so sturdy and reliable.  That table has made it through like 5 moves and has held up so well!!  Plus, I think it's adorable!  On the lower shelf I have a cute cross frame from, where else, Hobby Lobby...haha!!  I got that last year during their big 80% off home decor sale for like $2!  The cross is one my mom gave me that I just love.  On the top shelf is a vase that I got from ...Hobby Lobby, go figure...also during their 80% off home decor sale for $3.  The flowers actually came from my wedding bouquet that I made.  It's not wierd for me having them up, I have no attachment to them, I just think they are pretty and didn't want to throw them away, haha.  The photo clock on the wall was given to me by my class a couple of years ago.  I just decorated it with scrapbook paper and rhinestones.  I really like how it turned out!!

Finally, my kitchen table.  As you can see, I clearly have a country kitchen.  The tablecloth was my Nanny's.  It's old and worn, but it was hers, and that's all that matters to me!  The tray I got from, you guessed it, Hobby Lobby.  It too was on sale.  I think I picked it up for $4.  The cobalt blue vase is one that I got from my mom that goes with my cobalt blue glass set.  The roses are some that I was given by a student last year, and I dried them.  The picture is of my Tru and my neice Clara.  I love this picture!!  It goes so well with the look of my kitchen too.  The little boots I picked up my last trip to Texas to remind me of "home".  My Yankee Candle and lamp shade finishes off the table.

It was nice to have cheerful holiday decorations around us for a while, but I am definitely happy to have my nice cozy home back the way it should be!!
