My house is officially for sale!! It's scary, exciting, sad, happy, every emotion you can think of to have this finally happening! This is the first home that we (the ex and I) bought, and it's also the home that I brought Truett home to. I am ready to downsize though (although that will require me parting with a lot!! haha!!), and make a new start for me and Truett! Let's hope the process is a smooth one!! haha!

The "G" Word Strikes Again!!
Well, kind of an update from my last post (which can be found here):
Today was the day that I actually found out that I have been lied to for a while, and the ex does indeed have a girlfriend....AAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!! Excuse me while I pull the knife from my heart!! Oh, and the salt on the wound is that it's someone that I am familiar with. Why oh why do these things have to be so hard?! I am just ready for the weekend to be here to keep me busy! Boy do we have a lot going on this week!!
On to other things:
Tomorrow the Realtor comes to take photos of my house to get it listed and sold! Maybe this will go pretty smooth and getting out of this house and somewhere new will help me move on!! I am hoping for that anyway!

Every Ex-Wife's Worst Nightmare
**Ok, I am going to start out with a warning, these are my views, feelings, and outlook on things. If you don't agree, that's fine. If you can't relate, don't judge because you aren't in my shoes, and most of all, I AM NOT THROWING A PITY PARTY FOR MYSELF!! I am just getting a few things off my chest, and I hope by putting this on my blog, that maybe someone else who reads this and is feeling the same will realize that they aren't alone either....**
On February 16th, after about 8 or 9 months of separation, my divorce was final. I have to say, it was a lot harder than I thought it would be. I have had so much going on and so many things have happened in that last year, that I hadn't realized the finality of it all. I found myself really sad all of a sudden. A chapter of my life that lasted almost 7 years was gone. In a sense, I lost my identity. For so long I was Jacob's wife, Victoria, Jake, and Truett's mommy, and my students' teacher. That was what my life was, and I was very content for that to be my identity. Well, that wasn't meant to last. Overall, it was a good thing for everyone involved that the marriage came to an end. So why am I so sad?
I have to say, I was handling everything well, until the ex-husband uttered the word that makes every ex-wife's stomach curl, the "g" word....girlfriend!!!! I have to say, when that word came out of his mouth, I felt like the world had crumbled right on top of me! I broke down, and I haven't stopped crying since. Now, I know, if I don't want him, why am I taking this so hard? After a few talks, I was later told that he did not have a girlfriend, but he is dating and...well, you know, getting his needs taken care of...haha!! It still doesn't feel any better. I don't even understand my own reaction to this. I try to analyze why I am reacting this way, and so far this is what I think may be the cause to my complete emotional break.....haha:
1. I don't think I expected it to happen so fast. It brings up all of these inner insecurities. Like, why wasn't I good enough, why is he so fast to move on, what are these other people like, and so on. Women definately take things differently than men. I think women take it personally, when it really doesn't have anything to do with them. I guess I expected (or hoped) that he would have as hard of a time moving on as I was having. But knowing him like I do, I really should have known better than that!!
2. It's not that he's moved on, it's that I haven't gotten the chance to do it also. My life is getting up, getting myself ready, get Tru ready, go to work, come home, clean house, cook dinner, give/take showers, and then go to bed. This is my day, everyday. One evening a week Truett goes to see his dad, and that is on Sundays. I have no real "social" life to speak of unless it is taking Truett to birthday parties or play dates. This really isn't anything new though...I met my ex after only being Arkansas for 1 month. We started dating a month later, and were serious immediately. He had two children that he was raising on his own, so not only did I jump right into a relationship, I jumped right into being a mom. I didn't have time to make friends and such....so now that it's my time to need a "life", where do I start? Sure, during one of our "talks" the ex offered to take Truett so I could go out (not that I can actually count on that happening though), but where would I go, and do people really expect me to go out by myself? Maybe others are able to do that, not this girl! I am way too shy to be able to go somewhere and sit, and just start chatting people up! Anyway, where would I go? I don't drink, I don't party, basically I am out of luck when it comes to this issue! haha!! As fulfilling as it is being Truett's mommy, it's still incredible lonely.
3. My final thought on what could have brought on this rush of emotions is that it really has nothing at all to do with the ex moving on. Anyone who knows me or has read my blog this last year knows that it hasn't been the easiest year for me. This past year my grandmother suddenly passed away, my marriage fell apart, and then I lost my little brother unexpectedly. You add in that I also have a car that decided to break down every other day after my separation, having to deal with the handy work of my house (the one that I lived in with my ex mind you) alone, no longer having the financial stability that I used to have when I was married, my grandfather's failing health and alzheimers getting worse, and so on. I have been very overwhelmed for a while, and I think that it all just hit me at once. I guess the divorce actually being final after so long and hearing the "g" word the same week was the stresser that ultimately led to my little emotional break. I have to admit, that I am one to not talk about what is bothering me, and when I actually blurt out something that is bothering me or getting to me, I feel like a total dork and hate that I let that wall down, I mean, who really wants to hear me woes? I am notorious for bottling things in and and just trying to keep myself busy instead of dealing with things. I know this isn't healthy, but that's how I work....haha! I think I am just grieving over a lot of loss, and I am focusing my pain towards this issue instead of just grieving over everything that has affected me this year.
Like I said, this isn't me having a little pity party for myself ( I actually try to be a bit of a private person), but putting this out there in hopes that someone else reads this, and feels comfort that they aren't alone. Also, even if you can't relate at all, chances are you know someone who may be going through something similar. Maybe this gives you a little insight as to what can go on inside the mind of a single/divorced mom making it on her own. Even if she says she is fine and there is nothing wrong (which is usually a lie...haha) just offer a hug and some support. We all need that comfort and support sometime!

Latest samples and freebies
My world has kind of felt turned upside down lately (or at least everything that has happened in the last year is finally hitting me!), so I haven't been staying on top of my freebies and samples like I usually do. I did however manage to get a few things in over the last couple of weeks.
This is a large sample box from P&G. I got TONS of samples and coupons through this offer! Some of the items I received were, Crest Complete toothpaste, Pampers wipes, Crest Complete mouthwash, Downy UNStoppables, Dawn dish soap, and Pampers diapers. There were also many high value coupons included.
Here I got a free 11 X 14 poster from Snapfish. I chose this picture of my brother feeding Truett the first time they met. I had this framed and put up in Truett's room. I also got in a free Schick Hydro razor, as well as two high value Schick coupons.
In this group of freebies/samples I have this months issue of Working Mother magazine (a subscription that I got for free when they were having a giveaway), Zarbee's all natural cough and sleep drink, two Aquafresh Extreme Clean toothpastes that I got for free at Target using coupons, two packs of Cascade Action Pacs that I also got for free at Target using coupons, and then finally two M&M's Valentine boxes that I got for free using a coupon on top of the after Valentine's Day sale at Wal Mart the day after Valentine's Day.
That's all I have for now. This week I have been trying to finally start getting back on my savings game, so hopefully soon I will have more freebies and samples to show off for you guys. Enjoy your weekend!!

Picture Frames and Candles
This weekend I was bit by the crafting bug again.... I decorated some more frames for my house, and a few candles too. Here is what I did:
(once again, sorry for the quality of photos!! I need a new camera so bad!! haha)
This gold and black frame I decorated with black and leopard print ribbon. In the center of the bow I used an antique earring that belonged to my grandmother that had broken. Oh, and that's my handsome little guy in the frame...hehe!!
I made this frame for my niece Clara Grace. I think it turned out real cute! I put in a picture of her and Tru in it to send to her!!
This is a real simple wooden frame that has black edges. I added a pretty black bow and then added this cute bronze, black, and rhinestone cross in the middle.
This was a black and gold frame that I took and framed leopard print paper in instead of a picture. Then I took a large cross and hot glued it onto the glass. It looks so pretty in my room!
This candle I had up here on my memorial shelf to my brother. I finally got around to doing something to it to make it look a little nicer! I just decorated it using black and leopard ribbon, and then glued a really pretty cross on it.
This candle was the hardest to photograph!! Anyway, I decorated a black candle with black and bronze ribbon, then I hot glued on these cute leopard print rhinestones. Trust me, it really is cute...you just can't tell...haha!!
This black and gold candle I glued on black and gold ribbon and then hot glued on an antique button cover that was my grandmother's.
Now that my candles and frames are finished, maybe I can make time for my scrapbooking!! I am soooo behind on my scrapbooking!!!

Show Us Your Life---Single Moms
I'm linking up with Kelly over at Kelly's Korner for Show Us Your Life, single moms edition. I have so been looking forward to this link up. I am "new" to single mommyhood (it has been only about 9 months), and I would love to be able to connect with other single moms and learn how others view their life as a single mom.
I have to admit, that I was, and still am at times, very nervous to become a single mom. I was so scared if I could do it all by myself. I have had to really learn to let things be as God intends them to be, and take life day to day. Here are a few of my ramblings about being a single mom:
#1: Note to all of you who like to judge, I AM NOT A FAILURE!! It has taken me a while to be able to say this myself (and honestly I have moments where I find myself still questioning this), but I do not like it one bit when I have others imply that I have failed in any way because I am a single mom. So what that my marriage didn't work out. I didn't plan for it to happen. It's not my fault. I started out like everyone else planning for it to be my forever, it just wasn't meant to be. Even though it is hard, it is better for my child to be with two happy parents that are no longer together than to be with parents that are married, but argue and aren't happy!! I AM NOT A FAILURE, in fact I AM STRONG, INDEPENDENT, and A WONDERFUL MOMMY!!! Guess what, from the moment I wake up to the moment I go to sleep (and sometimes even through the night) it is all me. I am the one responsible for everything! There isn't another parent that I can have watch my son so I can go to the grocery store, go have lunch with a friend, or even go work out. It's all me! I don't have the benefit of having someone there to help me day to day. I am a teacher, a mom, and now a dad too....so the next time you want to judge, stop and think about that!!
#2. Being a single mom is overwhelming, stressful, and even lonely, but being a MOM is the single greatest gift that God has given me!! Sure, sometimes I would love to be able to go the bathroom without my little one needing to know where I am, but he is the greatest gift I have in my life, and I wouldn't trade it for the world.
#3. Just like being a mom doesn't define others, being a single mom doesn't define me. I have my own wants and things I like to do, I just may have to put some of them off for a while. I never want anyone to feel sorry for me and act differently around me. All I want is someone to be understanding. Yes, my child has to go everywhere with me, sorry, but that's how it works!! haha!!
Thanks for stopping by! I can't wait to check out the other links over at Kelly's Korner and see how you make your life as a single mommy work too!!

Happy Valentine's Day!!
Happy Valentine's Day everyone!! I hope you are having a wonderful day with the ones you love!!
Truett and I have had a busy and fun-filled day. Our day started off with a Valentine's Day party at school. I think we ended up with as much candy today as we had on Halloween!! Sheesh!! We still haven't eaten all of our Halloween candy!!
Truett enjoying his snacks at his school party!!
After the school party, we came home and I gave Truett his Valentine's gift from me...which he LOVED and hasn't stopped playing with since he opened it!! I let Truett pick out what we would have for dinner. What did he choose?
Cheese nachos, tacos, and refried beans...haha!! It's what he wanted, and since he's my valentine, it's what he got!! Oh, and how funny is it that I ended up picking out the same plates for our meal that one of my students brought for the school party!
Truett so excited about his dinner!!
He thinks it is soo yummy!!
And for dessert.....I baked some yummy cookies!!
I will have to admit that I did allow myself a moment when I was by myself to kind of break down a little. I guess the idea of today being about love and all, along with visiting Facebook and seeing all the flowers and such others were getting from husbands and boyfriends got to me a little. This is not only my first Valentine's Day in 7 years "alone", but my divorce will be final in 2 days after eight long months of proceedings... I didn't expect it to hit me like it did, but I guess we are all allowed to have those moments every now and then! It's a good thing I got all that chocolate today from my students to help ease the pain...haha!!

Show Us Your Life---Working Moms
I love linking up with Kelly over at Kelly's Korner! I especially love her Show Us Your Life segments she does. What a wonderful way for people to meet and come together!! This week her focus is on working moms, and working moms who like to blog. This is a little about me and my journey as a working mom:
I am the proud mommy to this very handsome four year old named Truett! He is my life and the reason I make it through every day. He is my one and only. I am a Pre-K teacher and love every minute of it! I only work half days, which is nice, but once I get home, I still have to plan my lessons, go through my curriculum, email/address parents and any concerns/questions they have, and so on. So I really do work a full day, I just get to do half of it from the comforts of my own home. I love working and getting out of the house, but like many working moms I struggle with doubting myself and if I am spending enough quality time with my son. Sometimes I feel like I am so focused on getting my work done and then getting all of the house work that needs to be done, that I forget to spend the time with Truett that he needs. Recently I started waiting to do all house work after he goes to bed. I put him down around 8:30, so I have about a good two hours before I go to bed to get the things done that I want to get done. I also just recently added the rule where that for one hour per night all televisions are to be turned off and that time is for the two of us to play and have fun together. I think that we both really enjoy this time the most!!
As for becoming a blogger, I started blogging in August of 2011 to chronicle our little journey we call life. I was starting a new chapter in my life as a single mom, so I wanted to start keeping track of all the things we did so that we could look back on them one day. I also found it a great way for grandparents and family to be able to keep up with what was going on in our daily life since we do not all live very close to each other. I have found blogging to also be a great way to get to know others and bond with other women about our lives and families, hence why I LOVE Kelly's Show Us Your Life segments so much!!
I am excited about the opportunity to read the stories of the many other working moms and see how you are able to balance work and mommyhood!!!
Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!!

Product of the Week....Jewelry!!
It's Thursday, so that means it's time for Product of the Week with Aly and Tiffani!! This week I am sharing a product that I was just introduced to this past week. Through Pinterest my sister connected me to a jewelry line called Origami Owl. Here is a little about them from their website:
Our Story
Origami Owl's story starts with a teenager and a dream. Our company was founded by 14 year-old Isabella in the fall of 2010. Fueled by a goal to raise enough money to buy a car for her 16th birthday, she started the business with $350 worth of babysitting money and a matched contribution from her parents. She sold her unique line of personalized jewelry at home parties and events and quickly realized that this brand has an energy all its own. People absolutely love creating and wearing personalized jewelry that has meaning and is special to them.Origami Owl's success has catapulted since its inception in 2010. Today our signature jewelry collections are available online and through our trained Independent Designers, who sell our products exclusively at home parties and events-just as Isabella did from the very beginning! Our parties are a fun way to bring together a group of friends for a unique, memorable and highly personalized experience
What I love about this line is that it is 100% designed by you to reflect your story/style! You create your necklace by choosing your charms, your locket, your chain, and so on... You HAVE to check them out here! They have everything for you to create a necklace about your kids, loved ones, breast cancer awareness, pets, or you. Here is a glance at the product:
I chose to make one in memory of my brother! Since I plan on wearing it day to day, I chose silver. You can also choose gold or rose gold. I chose the large silver locket with rhinestones around it (similar to the one above) and a silver 32" chain. The charms I chose were:
A crystal "A"- for Alex
June Birthstone- For his birthday
Angel Wings- Since he is now my angel in Heaven
In Loving Memory Heart- Since it is in memory of my brother
I also chose a white rose dangle added to mine like the one above because we had white roses on my brothers casket and I kept a couple of them, so the white rose also had a special meaning!! The plate in the middle I also added to mine, but I chose for mine to say LOVE. Now, I will disclose this, the necklaces aren't cheap!! I saved up for mine. I can't remember the last time I spent this much on one piece of jewelry. You do however control the cost of your necklace. You pay for each individual piece, so if you don't want the cost as high, don't add as much to it. With the 4 charms, large locket (there is also a medium option), love word plate, and dangle, my necklace was $80 after shipping and handling. I justified it by telling myself that it is something I will have forever and it is for my brother, so my conscious will just have to stop eating me alive!! haha!!
Now, I am kinda putting myself out there using this as my product of the week and I don't even have my necklace yet, but the idea is just so wonderful! Your very own individualized piece of jewelry that tells your story....how wonderful!! I will be sure to let you all know how it turns out! If it is as wonderful as I am hoping for, then I plan on getting one made about my son!! I can't wait to see what everyone else has as their Product of the Week, and don't forget to check out the Origami Owl website!!

Retail Therapy and the Olive Garden
I have to admit that I am one of "those" parents that has not been particularly strict about my son sleeping in his own room at night. Usually he goes to sleep in my bed or ends up in there in the middle of the night. Truett's bedroom has been more of a playroom until recently and he would just sleep in the guest room. Well, I finally got furniture for Truett's room, so I have been on a mission to get him to actually sleep in his room the whole night. Night 1 was a success!! Woo hoo!! I put him in bed a little earlier than usual and let him watch t.v. while in bed. Needless to say, he fell asleep before his 8:30 bedtime and stayed that way until I woke him up at 7:00 this morning!! His reward was a donut from the "donut store" and his choice of anywhere to eat for lunch. I made sure to make a big deal about him staying in his own room so that hopefully it will continue!!
When I gave Truett choice of restaurant for lunch, I honestly was expecting McDonald's or something along those lines, but that was not the case. What did my four year old choose? Olive Garden!! haha!! I had no complaints whatsoever!!
When I gave Truett choice of restaurant for lunch, I honestly was expecting McDonald's or something along those lines, but that was not the case. What did my four year old choose? Olive Garden!! haha!! I had no complaints whatsoever!!
Truett absolutely LOVES the salad and bread sticks at Olive Garden! Here he is coloring away on his place mat and dancing to the music that was playing (he loves him some Michael Buble!!!).
After his reward lunch, we went and did a little shopping. I got my tax money in, and I put most of it away in savings, but I did allow myself a small portion to use on some clothes and such that Tru and I are needing to get us through the spring and summer. While I usually tend to only shop sales, I did decide to splurge and actually pay full price on a few things for Truett. Here's a rundown of what I picked up:
This is what I picked up at Old Navy. I just picked up a simple pair of red khaki shorts, 2 t shirts, and a cute pair of navy slip on shoes.
We then headed to Children's Place. I usually love their selection, but I just couldn't find anything that I liked. I did pick up this cute pair of khaki pants and trouser socks. Tru just had to have these trouser socks because they had skulls on them! Crazy kid! haha!!
Lastly we went to Gymboree. Their new line came out Monday, and it was already so picked through!! I LOVE the new line!! The baseball theme is so cute! I plan on using the sweater vest and collared shirt along with the khaki pants I picked up at Children's Place as Tru's Easter outfit.
While I paid more for these clothes today than I have spent in a VERY long time, I tried to find a lot of basic pieces that I could mix and match and that would last a while. I even stayed under the budget I allowed myself for Truett's clothes, so that's a good thing!!
Here's to a successful night 2 of Truett making it through the night in his own bed!! If he makes it a week he gets to pick out a new Power Ranger! I am hoping bribery does the trick! If not, on to plan B, except I am not sure what plan B is just yet! haha!! Have a great evening everyone!!

A Whole Lot of Randoms....
Happy Monday!! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!! Mine was busy, but also managed to be pretty relaxing at the same time. Saturday we went to the Home Depot Kids Workshop where Truett built a keepsake box, then one of his friends came over to play, and then my cousins brought over new furniture for Truett's room. Sunday I went hunting for a comforter for Truett's room, rearranged his room to fit in his new furniture, and then watched the big game while getting my lessons finalized for this week. I have so many things to catch up on, I thought I would just make one big random blog instead of about 5 small ones! haha!!
Home Depot Kids Workshop:
This Saturday was the monthly Home Depot Kids Workshop. Two of Truett's friends met us up there and they got to build a keepsake box for Valentine's Day!

This is so much fun for Truett!! If you have little ones, I really recommend that you take them! It's the first Saturday of every month. Next month they will be making a model car!!
* I don't know what has happened to my camera. Every picture is out of focus and has these lines going through them. If anyone has a clue as to what is causing this, I would love your input! It's driving me crazy!!!
Freebies for the Week:
I got some pretty nice freebies in the mail this week that I thought I would share with you!
I received 3 more coupons for a free Powerade using my points from My Coke Rewards! I love getting these. I know I have said this a hundred times before, but if you drink Coca Cola products, you must join this program!! You drink your favorite products and earn freebies while doing so! Perfect deal!! I also got in three Green Tea samples from Lipton. I am not much of a Green Tea drinker, but my mom is, so I got these for her! Last thing in this picture is my free Crystal Light sample and coupon. I love Crystal Light, so I am real excited for this freebie!!
Next we have my pictures that I ordered through Snapfish again using my points from My Coke Rewards. I got these photos for free, I just had to pay shipping and handling, which I think was around $2 or so. When you average it out, it's about $0.08 per picture...so it's better than trekking to Wal Mart and standing in line forever to print out pictures!! You save time and money!!
Lastly I received my free subscriptions to Lego Club Jr. and Lego Club magazine. I got the Lego Club Jr. magazine for Truett and the Lego Club magazine for his older brother. These magazines are really neat! Inside they have neat activities for the kids to do, coloring pages, and pages showing them how to build different things with their legos. The Club Jr. magazine is for 4-7 year olds I believe and then the regular Lego Club magazine is for older kids.
Truett's Bedroom:
So, like I said before, I worked hard on getting Truett's bedroom rearranged to fit his new furniture. This is what his room looks like now:
As you can see, you can see into Truett's closet. I hated the sliding doors that used to be there, they never slid very well on the carpet. I saw this idea on a home improvement show, and just took them off the last time I renovated his room a few months back. Then I painted his closet, and I use it as his storage for toys and clothes, but I just make it look organized and nice. I really like it like that a lot better. Tru's walls are painted a khaki color, then I painted the closet and all of the trim in his room a dark red. It really makes his room look bigger. What you can't see is that to the right I have Truett's lego table and his bookshelf. I still have a few more things to get like a lamp, new bedding, and new artwork for above his bed, but I am waiting for what I want to go on sale at Hobby Lobby!!
Pinterst:
One last thing...I found this on Pinterest a while back, and I really think it's worth sharing! It really is perfectly said!!!

Three Months Today...
Well, I have to say that this isn't my most uplifting post, but it is a moment in my life, and that is what my blog is all about! Today makes three months since my amazing and loving brother passed away. Sometimes it feels like it was just yesterday, and some days it feels like it has been a year. But no matter the span of time that has passed, this has been THE hardest thing I have ever been through in my life! To suddenly lose a sibling, especially one so young, rips a huge hole out of your heart and soul that can't ever be filled or replaced. Any of you that have siblings knows exactly what I am talking about. Your siblings are your lifeline. There is no one else in the world who will love you and understand you like a sibling will. They know your deepest and darkest secrets and they know every flaw, but they still love you anyway.
The other day I was going through pictures that I had on my computer to send off and have printed out. Well, needless to say, I am way behind on getting photos printed. I came across some photos from this summer of my brother, my son, and my niece. Instantly my heart filled with sadness and joy all at the same time. I was sad because I miss my brother so, but so joyful that I will forever have this memory! Here are the two pictures that I found...
Finding these pictures was the greatest gift! My brother loved his niece and nephews more than anything else in the world, and they loved him just as much!! I can't have my brother back, but at least I have these photos to hold onto forever to remind me of the love we all had and still have for each other!! Here are a few more photos of my precious Ali doodle...
