This evening I realized that I didn't have breakfast for in the morning, and well, frankly I was feeling lazy and didn't want to run to the store. So I dug through the cabinets to see what all I had, and I found the ingredients to make some yummy cinnamon rolls!! Score!! These are the only items you need to make these sweet treats:
1 tube Flaky Butter Crescent Rolls
Brown Sugar
Cinnamon
Milk
Butter
Powdered Sugar
Vanilla
***First, let me disclose that I was raised cooking the "old school" way, where you don't measure. Everything is made by sight or taste. So I apologize for not having a lot of exact measurements!!
Directions:
*Preheat oven to 375 degrees
Roll out crescent rolls and pinch seams together. Flip dough over and pinch seams together again. Then brush dough with about 1 tbsp butter.
Dust dough with cinnamon. Now with this, you can be as liberal or as light as you like. It's all about your preference.
Now dust dough with brown sugar. Like the cinnamon, you can be as liberal or as light as you like with the brown sugar. I prefer more brown sugar than cinnamon. haha!
Then tightly roll dough. I like to then cover the dough with the foil and stick in the refrigerator while I make the icing. It's easier to cut this way. Also, all the extra cinnamon and brown sugar that is left on the foil gets on the outside of the dough and caramelizes in the oven...yum!!
Slice the dough about every inch or so and place in a pie plate sprayed with cooking spray. Place in oven and bake about 8-10 minutes.
The yummy golden brown cinnamon rolls!!! Now, all that's left is to top them with the icing and eat!!
Icing Ingredients: (Now all of these are estimates! I never measure!)
3/4 cup powdered sugar
1 TBSP milk
1/2 TSP softened butter
1/4 TSP vanilla
Mix all ingredients and you are done! That simple!!
Including cooking time, this usually only takes me about 15 minutes total to make. It's so fast and easy! Perfect for mom's on the go!!
ENJOY!!!!!
